Delete your iHustle account

This page explains how to request deletion of your account and the data associated with it on iHustle, the reverse-bidding services marketplace operated by Bangsoft (Private) Limited (Harare, Zimbabwe). The iHustle Android app is published by Bangsoft on Google Play; deleting your account on iHustle deletes it across the mobile app and the iHustle web surfaces.

Option 1 — Delete from inside the app (recommended)

The fastest way to delete your account is from inside the iHustle app:

  1. Open the iHustle app on your device and sign in to the account you want to delete.
  2. Tap the Profile tab, then tap the gear icon to open Settings.
  3. Scroll to the bottom of Settings and tap "Delete Account".
  4. Read the on-screen warning, then confirm by tapping "Delete my account".
  5. Re-enter the one-time code (OTP) sent to your phone to authorise the deletion.
  6. The account is deactivated immediately. Anonymisation completes within 30 days.

Option 2 — Request deletion by email

If you cannot sign in (for example, you no longer have access to the phone number on the account) you can request deletion by email:

  1. Send an email to privacy@ihustleapp.com from the email address or phone number on file.
  2. Use the subject line: "Account deletion request".
  3. Include the mobile number on the iHustle account (e.g. +263 77 123 4567) and confirm that you want the account and associated data deleted.
  4. We reply within 5 business days to verify the request, then complete deletion within 30 days.

What is deleted

When your account is deleted, the following data is permanently removed or anonymised within 30 days of the request:

  • Profile (display name, photo, bio, skills, service areas).
  • Hustler verification photos and ID-verification artefacts.
  • Posted jobs, drafts, saved jobs, and bids you placed or received.
  • Chat history and uploaded attachments.
  • Push-notification tokens, device identifiers, and saved app preferences.
  • Ratings and reviews you wrote (your name is removed; the rating is retained anonymously to preserve the counterparty's history).

What is kept, and for how long

We keep a minimal set of records after deletion, only where we are legally required to or where keeping them is necessary to protect iHustle and its users. These records do not let other users find, contact, or transact with you. Specifically:

  • Transaction records (subscription, lead-credit, boost, and badge purchases). Retained for the period required by Zimbabwean tax and accounting law, typically six years.
  • Fraud and abuse records (bans, IP/device markers tied to safety incidents). Retained as long as necessary to prevent recurrence — typically up to seven years.
  • Mobile-number deactivation marker. Retained permanently. The number is locked from re-registration on iHustle to stop a deleted account from being re-created on the same line.
  • System backups containing the deleted record. Aged out within 90 days of the deletion of the underlying record.
  • Minimal audit log of the deletion event itself. Retained for fraud prevention and to evidence that the deletion was performed.

Re-registering after deletion

The mobile number used on a deleted account is permanently deactivated on iHustle. This is a deliberate safeguard against fraudulent accounts re-registering on the same line. If you want to return to iHustle on the same number, contact  support@ihustleapp.com  and we will review the request manually.
